Evil Eye refers to a curse cast on an individual either by witchcraft of by an alp, using the right (evil) eye. It can refer to the expression and the eyeball itself. A curse of illness or bad luck befalls whomever the malevolent gaze is cast upon. This curse can be removed through the "bleeding" of the eye that bewitched them. Bleeding the eye involves damaging or cutting just above the right eye. Doing this to a witch is said to remove the curse or call off the alp tormentors in her employ. Damage to an alp's eye removes his evil intent and desire to cause nightmares.
